Question Iontophoresis or phonophoresis for pain

Hello! I have been diagnosed with rotor cuff/bicep tendonitis since August 2003. I had cortisone injections 12 weeks ago, felt better than it all came back with a vengenance. I cannot take anti-inflammatory meds because I have GERD. I am now going to a physical therapist, they are using iontophoresis/phonophoresis on my shoulder. I have had four treatments without any improvement. Has anyone used this treatment for pain and benefited from it? Please know I would be very grateful if you could comment on your experience with this treatment. I will be waiting for your reply. In gratitude. Blessings!

Re: Iontophoresis or phonophoresis for pain

Yes I have tried it and NO it didn't do a thing for me, I think it is a useless piece of equipment that Drs use to pacify us chronic pain patients when nothing else works. I may be wrong but it is like anything else, sometimes it works sometimes not and it depends on the individual.

Hi:

I have pain in my rotator cuff too. Although I also suffer from Gerd, I take Bextra and it doesn't give me heartburn. I do take Pepcid 2X a day to prevent the heartburn. I've never had much luck with PT for anything. Have you tried any of the newer anti-inflammatories? What about Glucosamine/Chondroitin?
