Post What's a knee MRI like?
Hi everyone: I may need an MRI of my knee and am wondering how much of your body goes into the machine. How long does it take? I'm very claustrophobic and suffer from anxiety as it is. Thanks for any help. Sue

I remember having MRI several years ago-- took quite a bit of time. Up to the waist best I can recall.
Machine was very loud ans was given headphones to listen to some tunes !

The latest knee MRI I had was in February 2003 (I had a total of 5 knee MRIs). It was an open MRI scanner which covered my body from the waist down. I was given headphones to block out the noise and listen to some music. The MRI took about 40 minutes. If you feel apprehensive or anxious, you might want to ask your doctor to prescribe a sedative for you.
