Talking Anyone know?

Hi there! I was just wondering, does anyone know if RA can make you have strange vision at times? There are times when my vision gets real funky, it seems I am looking through water, or like, you know when you see a ceiling fan turning in your periffual<<<<sp.? vision. I have had this for years but my optomitrist says it is not my vision that causes it....hmmmmmmm, now I wonder if it could b one of the symtoms of RA also. Do I make any sense here?...I sound sorta dumb to myself....haha!
Anyone know anything about this?

Thanx!

This board moves slowly, don't be insulted. Yes, RA can affect the eyes although I am not sure how. I spoke with a man in my rheumatologist's waiting room once who had RA in his eyes. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor about it.

There is also an RA med called Plaquenil which can affect your vision. If you are on Plaquenil and are having any trouble with your vision you should call your doctor immediately! Please don't delay. Take care, Pat

Pat, thanx for your reply. I apolagize for my impatience. I wear my heart on my sleeve most of the time. Well, first of all I am not on any meds cause I don't have ins. and I can't get help. Someday soon I hope. I was diagnosed back in Dec. and have suffered more and more everyday since. No money no ins. no meds.... Went to a rhuemy that my doctor referred me to and they turned me away because I had no ins. and no money to pay up front that day!
Thank you for replying, again, sorry I was so impatient.

just me, woma nay

I'm so sorry you are suffering and have no insurance. Is there a social services agency in your town that you can visit and apply for some help to get you on meds, at least? How horrible. Please call your Social Security office or social services agency or something. To have RA and no medication for it is truly a horrible thing. Someone out there has to be able to help you. Please try?

I get annoyed with our health system in AUS cause we don't have all the new drugs avail yet like enbrel but that sounds crazy to need private health insurance for specialist treatments and prescription drugs!!Where are you? I've had RA for 6 months and could not get through a single day without meds so you're very brave. There msut be a way! Anyway, yes my eyes are affected. My rheumy tells me it's quite common. Sometimes i feel like i have a sty under my eyelid but the optometrist could see nothing under the microscope. Using special drops has helped. I have a referral for a special type of eye specialist but don't plan on pursuuing it at this stage. It comes and goes but is better when my inflammation is under control with my meds so you must persist. RA is not just in joints as we all eventually discover, your crazy immune system begins to attack any tissue in your body. All the best!!
