Hello all. I'm new and just walked in, so to say.
My woe has to do with my toe. I played 15 years of baseball and softball with most of it as a catcher. I was very mobile as a catcher and think I gave my big toes quite the workout. They are often sore.
I am 41 with an average build. The toes have hurt for six years, but yesterday, I woke up with one throbbing. I could barely put weight on it. The pain covers the main joint. There is significant swelling and hardly any mobility in the joint itself.
I have four questions:
What are the chances of this being arthritis?
I'm thinking this could be somewhat disabling if something isn't done. What options are there?
In the meantime, what's the best way to get some relief?
My doctor (over the phone today) prescribed Naproxen for the inflamation.
Should I go to a specialist?
Thanks for any input
Dan
