I have developed arthritis in my shoulder muscle. I assume it is from the lipitor that I was taking. I was wondering if anyone knows what would be good for it. Has anyone ever had cortisone shots for it?

Arthritis is not really possible in the muscles, in the bones however it is.
Have you had it xrayed and gotten a proper diagnosis yet? If not I suggest that you do because it could be something else like a pulled muscle, bursitis, torn rotator and many other things.
As far as medication for arthritis there are many on the market but lately doctors prescribe the COx inhibitors more often than anything because they are more effective and less irritating on the stomache. Those would be medications like Bextra and Mobic, there are a few others ones out there as well.

you can also try the over the counter medicine called Allieve, it used to be prescription only but is now available OTC. Just be careful you do not take too much and that it is not bothering your stomache.

I had it xrayed and the MD said it was arthritic changes. It does feel more like in my shoulder blade. I am hypothyroid and was taking lipitor. I developed very bad pains in my legs and feet. It was hard for me to walk. My FNP told me to quit taking the lipitor. Now my legs and feet are much better but I still have the pain in my shoulder.

I have an appointment with the FNP Tuesday I will make sure and ask her about it. She cares much more.

A good anti imflamatory should help then and maybe a bit of therapy to calm to shoulder down. Heat and or ice will also be effective.
I would suggest you do some research on the injections, they can cause more problems down the line. However, not as many problems are reported in the shoulders. Just be sure you never have more than 3 in a 1 year period if you have them at all.

If the pain gets worse or you have numbness in your arm or fingers you should also consider getting your neck checked. Herniated disks in the cervical spine will mimic shoulder pain and is often diagnosed as shoulder pain when it is not. I know you said theres signs of arthritis and that's probably it but just in case if the pain gets really severe it's something to keep in mind.

Thank you very much for your information. Never thought about a herniated disk. I will make sure the FNP looks at my xray to make sure of what the problem is.
