About a month ago I read a book that said that red tart cherries have anti-inflammatory effects and many arthritis suffers drink cherry juice for the pain. I have arthritis in my big toe joint and I have been in severe pain for about 3 years. I have been getting steroid shots in the joint every 6 weeks or so and the dr said the only way to get rid of the pain is to fuse the joint. I'm 34 by the way, and the dr said this is an injury related arthritis. Anyways, I have been drinking 4 to 6 ounces of cherry juice every morning and night or I eat frozen tart cherries. My pain has been greatly reduced to the point of nonexistence on some days. I haven't had to take ibuprophen in about 4 weeks and I have not had a shot since the end of June anymore. I don't know if this has been mentioned on this board before as this is my first time here, but I thought I'd mention this.
The grocery store I go to has one kind of cherry juice. But I've seen it on the web too, you can buy it in concentrate. I also eat frozen tart cherries sometimes instead of drinking the juice. It really has done wonders for me. The bee stinging that a previous poster said sounds interesting.
My husband got it because his dad had it.In middle age The only place I can buy cherry juice with no sugar is Brookshires grocery. The cherry worked great the last few times But this time he has gone through 4 bottles and medicine from doctor and he has had it two weeks. Its hard not to eat beef though in Beef country. But I guess every body body is different. Thanks for all the help on this board.
You can find the canned tart pie cherries in the canned fruit section at the grocery. It works wonders! I heard 20 per day and found it really worked for a long time until the damage to the great toe joint was just too much. Try it! It's a cheap remedy.
