I am new to this board, I usually go to the Lupus board, which is my primary diagnosis. I just found out that I also have R.A., which my rheumy says is rare to have both. I found out because I had severe neck pain last week, couldn't turn my head left at all. Went to a chiropractor who said that my C2 and C3 are completely fused together. I then went to my rheumy who said that it was from RA, not my Lupus this time. Says the joint and everything along with it is gone. I started on Methotrexate injections. I also take Prenisone 20mg per day until the MTX kicks in. It has helped. I take Plaquenil for the SLE.
Does anyone have similar cervical fusions like me? I know that you can never get that joint back, but how serious is this? Everything went by so fast at the rheumy's office, I was upset about the MTX because my husband and I were going to start trying to have a family in the next 6 months. (I am 33). I guess I quit listening after the official diagnosis. I have not gone back to the chiropractor because I honestly don't know if I should! I feel I should have an MRI or something. I was reading on the internet that RA can cause serious complications with the spinal cord if C3 if affected. I do have facial pain (on and off) and peripheral neuropathy.
Hope someone can give some input!
