Anyone else on pred? My rheumy has given me 60mg for 3 days, then 40mg for 7 days. just wondering if anyone else is on it that can tell me anything about side effects? does it work? Mine's only an emergency dose because my mtx is so rubbish, then having steriod injections. :/
Hi Megan Yes, it does help especially that hight of a dosage but it can cause some stomach problems if your on it to long. Which it sounds like you won't be on it long but it does help.
thanks!! All i've had so far is extreme hunger pangs, been loading up on the fruit. Skin seems a little healthier too, but maybe thats just thanks to the 10l or so of moisturuizer i use... :/
i was on it on and off for a year.
when i was on it for 2/3 months i didnt notice any side effects, just mainly i had sooo much more energy than ever before and i found it a lil hard to sleep at the start
but when i was on it for longer last year i noticed i was putting on weight in my face and just some facial hair... didnt do me any good. steroid injections can be ok. only worked once for me
WOW! my skin's gone nice and my face has puffed a tiny bit, but nothing much else except for so much ENERGY!!!!! I'm bouncing off the walls!!!!! went shopping today, and it hurt but i felt like i could have gone on forever. Hurrah! Long term though? no thanks... i'll have the injections and see how it goes. I really don't want to be on steroids. This is just like an emergency pain relief thing. Oh, and dammit i'm hungry!!! Eating so much fruit... i think i'm turning into a grape :/:/
HI megan,
I have just come off an emergency dose of steroids. Got all the side effects listed already, good and bad.
I just wanted to say watch out for a few weeks after stopping them, I got very low going back to being wiped all the time. It took me a while to realise what was going on, the doc didn't think to tel me i could feel low for a bit while my ody adjusted to working without the steroids.
Feeling pretty good now 2 months later( i think, all the meds blend into each other) I am on INFLIXIMAB now, worth looking into but i know the NHS has a check list to see if you are eligable, apparently being in a lot of pain isn't always enough.
