Methotrexate Users-Do You Have an Medical ID Bracelet?

Hi all,

After I was put on MTX, folic acid and Plaquenil, I did a lot of research and one of the sites I read advised MTX users to wear a Medical Alert ID bracelet with MTX listed in case of an accident. Apparently it's necessary because so many drugs can interact with it and it's such a heavy duty drug. Do any of you have an ID bracelet? Has your doctor advised you to wear one? I'm not sure if it's really necessary or just overkill and since I won't see my Dr. for a while, I'd like to hear what others have to say before I ask him about it. Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I'm curious to hear what others have to say. I only saw that advice on one web site so maybe that was just one writer's opinion and not really necessary.

Re: Methotrexate Users-Do You Have an Medical ID Bracelet?

Methotrexate can be used with most other drugs with no interaction. That , and its cost is one of the reasons it is the first drug chosen after nasaids to treat RA. I loved this drug, however, I really like my hair and it did fall out. this does not happen to everyone so if you are asked to, give it a try and see if your s does. My hair grew back once I was off the drug with no problems.

louie, what you had to say about the drug.. did it happen almost instantly with your hair falling out or after a period of time? because i am just curious because of the length of time i have been on it and wondering if it will eventually happen to me.
