| Re: Dealing with knee pain chrondomalacia
need some questions answered about my knee.
Here is a History Sorry about the spelling...
1. ACL blowout 2001 Oct. Surgery 2002 May.
2. March 2007 Twisted my knee walking down stairs and pivot to the
right leading with the Right foot and heal turned out medial towards
the toe. Heard a loud pop and right away thought it was my ACL
again. Acl was still intact and it ended up that I tore Miniscus.
Anterior Horn of the lateral Miniscus. The Dr. sugested that I had
streached out my ACL and that he should do a preceedure called thermal
shrinkage.
3. Surgery One, April 16 2007. Dr. couldn't find the tear in
miniscus and decided to cut away palpatile.
Dr. advised me to return to activities when feel comfortable. As I did.
Then I started to feel the pop sensation and pain medial of the knee
in the middle. So Dr. ordered a new MRI Stated that the meniscus was
still torn and I sugested that the knee still feels unstable and I
also asked Dr. that if this could be that my MCL is hurt. He said no.
4. Surgery 2 July 7th. Found the meniscus and repaired it. Also did
the thermal shrinkage. and cut away the palpatile again.
Knee still in pain 7 months later after this surgery.
2nd opinion with VA dr. stated that the 2002 ACL surgery had been
placed in a position that isn't ideal due to new studies and may need
to have 2 surgerys to correct this bone graft and healing process then
repeate ACL.
3rd MRI states Thickened Medial Retinaculum and medial femoral
condylar chondromalacia. I have on all MRI this Chondromalacia I
didnt have this before 2002 ACL surgery but now I do is there a
connection with ACL not being placed in a postion that may have the
knee feel instability? How about chrondromalacia isn't a digonosis
but a condition and needs to be figured out what could have caused
this. Also on this MRI states Small Effusion? why? after 7 months of
surgery and not being active this still shows up?
Do you think I should have my 4th surgery to clean up my ACL and bone
graft then Have my 5th surgery to place New ACL in a better postion
and im sure I have lots of scar tissue how about a clean up of the
chondromalacia what about micro fracture surgery? Or:
How about placeing a Tendon in a postion where the Acl should be and
leave the reconstucted ACL and not go through 2 surgerys?
Do I need surgery on the Medial Retinaculum?
