| Question re persistent soreness in knuckle of ring (fourth) finger
I have this persistent soreness in the ring finger of my left hand in the second knuckle from the finger tip (known as the “3rd Proximal Interphalangeal Joint” or “PIP”). It does not hurt at all when I press on the knuckle, but hurts when I press on my finger tip from underneath (such as when I type on a keyboard) or squeeze the finger tip. It doesn’t hurt when I press on any other area of the finger, either before or after the knuckle, and the finger is not stiff at all. It doesn't even hurt much at all when I bend the finger fully. I’m not sure if this is a tendon issue or joint issue, possibly arthritic (I am in my early 60’s). I don’t recall straining the finger and it is not showing any bruising. Any idea of what this probably is?
