It could be a tendon getting shorter and shorter and pulling the fingers inward. My pinkies get into a certain position and then lock....and then suddenly give away with a big "click" and then move again. Doctor said it was a tendon that was getting caught and then releasing. But it can happen with all the tendons in our hands and do weird things to your fingers.....pretty common.
So the next time you see your doctor, show him/her and maybe some physical therapy might help to get them working right or even some splints you could wear at bedtime to help stretch the tendon back into place.
It's not arthritis if you are worried about that.
But please do show your doc the next time you are in to see him/her. It can be helped and even fixed.
