I went to see a doctor about knee pain. He suggested that I take glucosamine chondroitin. Since I have an allergy to shellfish, is the glucosamine chondroitin made without shellfish as effective? What are the positives and negatives of taking this supplement?

My DH uses glucosamine with condroiton and he swears it is the best thing ever for his joint pain, and much better than glucosamine alone. I didn't know supplements were available that didn't come from shellfish either, but I suspect it may be an artificially made type instead but it would certainly be worth a try to see if it helps. If you don't notice an improvement then at least you tried.
