Scaphoid Ligament Reconstruction and Arthritis

I tore my scaphoid ligament and had it reconstructed using a tendon. It's my understanding that this is the first procedure they do hoping to get some mileage out of it before arthritis gets bad. The next step would be to remove the scaphoid bone and fusing a couple others together. Then if the arthritis gets bad enough after this procedure to actually fuse the entire wrist.

I had the reconstruction a few years ago and I've had arthritis in it for awhile now. I get cortisone injections which sometimes help for a time. I'm wondering what sort of results others may have gotten with removal of the scaphoid bone and fusing a couple others together.
