I've had a itchy red rash on both my legs for months now, and it began when my joint pain with RA began. Does anyone else have skin rashes with RA or any other arthritis? I know about Psoriatic arthritis. No matter what I use for the rash, it never goes away! I take Plaquenil 400 mg a day for my RA, an inflammatory, Norco and sometimes Ibuprofen. I've been on Plaquenil for almost 2 months. It's frustrating because the rash is ugly, so I never wear shorts or capris, even in this hot weather

I am sorry for your suffering, I wish I could give you better advice, but I want to tell you one thing which I know very well.
Many years ago I worked with young woman, she was in her early 30th.
She had for 3 years terrible rush on her legs. She made matter worse by picking on it so constant infections would follow it.
I can't tell you how many specialists she saw; how many drugs she was on - nobody can't count.
3 years later she gets sick with cold. And it turned into pneumonia (Thank God!!!). Treating her for pneumonia they discovered she has lung disease. Please forgive me but I completely forgot the name of the disease. It was a blessing really.
When she was send to a lung specialist, he told her that her rush is one of the signs of this disease. How about that?
After years of treatments, her lungs and her rush are fine. Her skin nice and clear.
I don't suggest you have lung disease by any means. I just want to make a point that your rush may come from very different health issue. So many Doctors don't go outside the box; they see rush, they treat this rush without thinking this could be more serious problem.
I never heard someone with RA has skin rush. Sorry...
Wishing you well; don't give up. Go and search for yourself and see as many doctors as it takes to get to the root of the problem.
Many people with RA have rashes. Sometimes RA coexists with lupus, and lupus is notorious for causing rashes of all sorts. I would get a current blood test for lupus. I would also see a dermatologist and consider a biopsy of the rash as that will often tell you what the rash is from (not always). I think Moldova might have been talking about sarcoidosis, if that rings a bell to her. The derm would also be able to treat the rash and help you get rid of it or get improvement.
Rheumatologist always asks if I've had any rashes, so I'd say yes it's probably a common part of RA. I've been on Plaquenil for 6 years too, but have never had a rash problem. Hope you can find some relief.
I've had rash on my right lower leg, I went to the dermatologist, she did a scrapping said it was psoriasis. She prescribed Fluocinonide Ointment Its helped some, I've only been on it a week. I've let the RA doctor know, I'll see her in a week. I know several people with RA and psoriasis.
