My Symptoms started with me taking a tetanus shot exactly 35 days back. I got fever the same day and the next.
Day 4 - started getting muscle pain on the injection arm and on my thigh. I thought it would be the side effects of the injection and didn't pay attention. I used to work out.
Day 10 - I got sever lower back pain , which i thought was from the exercise, I went to the chiropractor and felt a bit better.
Day 12 i got sore throat which hasn't cured so far (after 4 weeks) and have several white spots on my tonsils.
Day 16 - Muscle pain and joint weakness started. Took Amoxicilin twice for the sore throat and the joint pain and muscle weakness worsened.
Day 20 - Big toe joint started paining and now has subsided a bit .. still ache sometimes.
Current Situation -
Consistent - sore throat (white spots), Muscle weakness ,muscle spasms, muscle pain, Knee bit swollen and pain, Burning sensation on the leg and knee after walking.
Migratory - Ache under the foot near the big toes sometimes. left hand 1st finger pains and is stiff sometimes, Neck pain , elbow pain (sometimes symmetrical and sometimes asymmetrical) , shoulder pain ( symmetrical once)
, Jaw clicking and jaw , teeth pain. Facial muscle tense, ALL of these are migratory and ON /OFF several times during the day.
Additional symptoms - urine smells little weird (not foul), CK levels are slightly elevated 217. Get chills with NO fever every evening for couple of hours , and terrible night sweats.
Pain on the left side of the body more than right
The doctors have already tested be for all the basic stuff and everything came out negative. I am expecting the results for the autommune panal soon,
Following tests came positive -
Lymes disease - positive EILSA , positive western blot ( heard that autoimmune also causes positive Lymes WB) , so could be false positive. .and i dont remember getting bitten by nything and i dont live in a tick area.
MONO - Current negative , Past VCA IGG 3.21 high, Past IGG High..
CMV - Past high , current negative.
The doctor has put me on Doxcicycline for the lyme .. but i m still not convinced .. the knee pain and jaw pain got worse after 1st dose of doxy.
Health History - suffer from GERD and chronic prostatitis. I have been having minor muscle twitching and spasms for the past 3 years (few times a day), I Also get bad leg pain near the achilles heel, ankle and the shin after running a mile since the past 4 years , but the pain used to go away if i dont run for couple of days.
I have a theory that the tetanus shot is causing all this and i am suspecting some autoimmune disease . Hence very worried . .It would be great if someone can comment on my situation..
First, inflammatory arthritis can happen as a result of infection. Google Reactive Arthritis and see if it looks like you.
My second thought was about me. In January 2004, I had a bad case of Pneumonia. Within months, I started experiencing migratory pain. I feel lucky that all my tests for Rheumatoid Arthritis were positive, including the Anti-CCP so it was an easy diagnosis for me. However, many people have Rheumatoid Arthritis with normal blood tests. It's called Seronegative RA. Google it too.
If you haven't been to a Rheumatologist, I would highly recommend it.
My brother in law just finished treatment. No, the meds weren't pleasant--pain, feeling lousy and mood swings. Sorry, I don't know how long it took but seems like at least a month. But they live out of town and he finished treatment just before coming for their planned visit and he looks and feels fine.
Don't know if the tetanus shot was to blame or not but I'd sure be glad to have something that can be treated (until it can't) than an auto immune disease.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'd hate to see you stop the treatment because it's making you uncomfortable or you think its a false positive. Good luck to you.

My doctor wasn't smart .. I was the one to push him for a Lyme test :-) .. Anyways i have been taking them for the past 15 days now and haven't seen any improvement in the sore throat or my joint pains or muscle pains. .. So i guess its not lymes ..
Also My second lyme test came out to be positive only for band 23 so does not meet cdc criteria so Negative.. .
I am still without a diagnosis. .and doctors keep on referring me to other doctors.. .
Recently I got RF - 9.8 , anti ccp of 17 . .both on borderline negative. .so I m worried that it is actually RA. . but the rheumy keeps on denying and asked me to go back to my GP to get treatment. .but my GP doesn't have a clue whats wrong so referred me to an Infectious Disease specialist .. . .
I am glad that it worked out for your brother in law .. .Thanks for your reply. .
I hope that during this time you have had a strept throat culture and an ASO blood test to rule out rheumatic fever. It occurs from strept, usually tonsillitis/pharyngitis, and then causes a migratory arthritis that is severe like RA. Docs don't check for it often nowdays, but it could certainly fit. I would definitely ask for a throat culture and anti streptolysin antibody titer, as strept doesn't usually respond to Doxycycline, and you were on Amoxicillin too short a time. Rheumatic fever still occurs and often slips thru the cracks looking for more exotic problems.
My doc stopped the doxy as it didnt show any improvement. He got me tested for vitamin D and it turns out that its very low at 13. So i have been on those supplements for the past month. However there hasnt been any improvement so far, although in the recent month my symptoms have gotten steady and consistent.
I am currently having knee pain / swellig / stiffness, muscle fatigue, overall fatigue, occasional chills with eyes burning. Muscle sensitivity and numbness on the surface of the skin on legs and arms sometimes.
One wierd thing I have noticed is that my muscle and fatigue issues get worse if i take any multivitamin (B-complex , vitamin C ) ( i used to take same multivitamin before all this started without any issues). . No doc seems to be able to explain this
My doc says that I have some autoimmune disorder but isnt sure which one as all the tests are still inconclusive . howver couple of lupus tests are positive just on the edge
I am currently on this homeopathic medication which seems to have helped my small joints in leg and hands , and havent hurt in the past month.
