Have Vitamin D supplements been useful ?

Hi ,

I have been told by my doctor that I have some kind of inflammatory Arthritis , but still not sure which . My vitamin D count is at 13 which is pretty low. .I have been prescribed with 50000IU's of vitamin d a week . Is anyone else here who has had a similar problem and has felt better after the supplement.

I am having knee pain and swelling , pain in big toe joints. . and severe muscle fatigue and pain.

Re: Have Vitamin D supplements been useful ?

The same exact thing happened to me this past spring. I had horrible muscle pain and leg cramps. Went to see a rheumy due to a positive ANA test and was told I also have some kind of autoimmune disease. My numbers are quite low. They said lupus or MCTD. My vitamin D also came back 13. I took 50,000 units twice a week for 4 months then continued with 2,000 a day. My latest number was 44. And yes I do feel better. I believe the vitamin D tablets have helped a lot! Feel better

Yes I am still taking them. I'm afraid to stop due to the horrible muscle pain. Hope you get some answers for your autoimmune. I just made an appointment with a new doctor and it's not until Dec. A long wait! Stay well!

Re: Have Vitamin D supplements been useful ?

The brand is Nature Pride vitamin D3. My levels did rise from taking them from 13 to 44 so they must be working. Also most of the muscle pain is gone. Just some fibro hurting.
