Humira

Has anyone taken the drug Humira for RA? Newly prescribed to me since the Methotrexate was ineffective for me. She tells me I will take it SubQ 2 x weekly. Have there been any side effects I need to know about before I begin? I have read all the handouts she gave me and am a little scared but also realize that unless I want the RA to continue to progress then I must be proactive. Thanks!

Re: Humira

Hi,
I am 37 and have had RA for the past 5 years. I was on Humira for about 3 years but now take Orencia. Humira worked very well for me and I noticed the difference rather quickly. One thing I have to be honest about, though, is the injections were painful. I had my husband give me my injection because there was no way I could do it myself. I'll be honest, in only hurts for a few minutes, but for those few minutes it hurt alot. But, I have spoken to others who have said they didn't think the pain was bad at all, so they may be a breeze for you! I hope this helps!

Was your injection SubQ? I have never been able to administer the MTX either. Hubby had to do them. They did not hurt at all. Hope this one isn't too bad. My pain tolerance is not good and I have a phobia with needles. My sister is also on Orencia. Her RA is progressing to the severe stage. I am desperately trying to stop mine from going any further. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it so much. Pixie
