Winter & arthritis

The damp, cold, Winter weather causes flare ups w/ RA and Fibro. We have some bad winters in Indiana! I would love to relocate to AZ, as my doc. suggested. But it isn't that ez to pick up and move! I have a very close family and can't imagine moving away from them.
Has anyone relocated to ease the pain of arthritis? ...Just curious

Re: Winter & arthritis

Yes that's true that people suffer a lot in winter from arthritis but there are certain ways through which you can be comfortable and free from such pain. Due to cold weather, no one feels to carry out any physical activity that's the reason why people face a lot of problem like muscle stiffness, joint pain. You can also prepare a good diet. Avoid carbohydrates, sugar and include an diet that contains protein and fibrous ones. Also make sure to drink a plenty of water. I think if you take some precautions then there won't be any requirement for changing the location.

Re: Winter & arthritis

To me, it seems like extreme weather of any kind affects my arthritis and fibromyalgia. Whether that be prolonged rain (lasting for a couple of weeks or more), high heat, storms, bitter cold, etc. I live in Louisiana so it's a pretty mild winter here but when we do get really cold snaps, I have a flare up, but also when it is very hot and humid as well. I tend to do well in fall and spring when there are no weather extremes except storms. When we had our last hurricane, I thought I was going to die from the pain! (not the hurricane)

I eat healthy and exercise daily but it does not thwart flare ups when the weather abruptly changes, though I think it does reduce the amount of pain involved.

Do you find that extreme heat affects you at all?
