Asperger's Syndrome apprentice
G'day and Happy New Year to you all,
I'm a 34 y.o. who was diagnosed in 2003 as having mild Asperger's Syndrome. I do lots of yoga, acupressure, and walking, gardening, and reading. I also play guitar, and have a partner who I love muchly and live with. I am semi-vegatarian, and find I need plenty of fish and a little meat. I am highly educated, and my special interest is in the area of sustainable living and creation spirituality...live, love, and laugh!
We have just found out we are pregnant, and are delighted about this, yet are concerned about employment. My partner wants to stop work as an usher and tour guide at the Melbourne Arts Centre, and I have just completed a Cert 2 Pre-app in Carpentry (building & Construction). I want to do a building apprenticeship, and because I am concerned with environmental health, and am an Aspie, may find it best in working with an earthbuilding consultant (eg. rammed earth adobe and cob cottages).
Does anyone have some advice about doing an apprenticeship when you have ASD ?
Thanks so much,
Matt
