When did your child with this diagnosis start to speak in words/sentences.

My son is almost 5 now but, started saying his first words at 3. His first real sentence was at 4.... It was hard to make anything out of what he was saying cuz, he was mumbuling everything. No one understood a word but, me.... He still cant talk clearly but, at least words come out now... I have a neice who is 6 and still doesnt talk she can only say mom,dad,& baby. Her autism is severe though at its 1st stage unlike my sons which is at its 2nd stage.....

my son is dx with HFA/AS and he started to speak at normal age, 16 + mos somewhere in there... defentantly by 2... unlike my dd who is NT by the way! He also knew all his # and letters by 2 1/2.. I now see it was alot of repeating and photographic memory at play,,, but hey???
