I don't know anything about Asperger...but my own experience with ADD.... Very much scared to initially try meds for my child--clearly understandable, a few things I was told.... When I questioned my child being a "zombie" - I was told - if my son was a zombie he was on too much medicine. The doc said - the medicine will not stop my child from throwing rocks at a car... it will help him hit the cars.... it will help him focus on what he is doing. Since there is no true "test" and everyone is different on meds - your child is pretty much a guniea pig --sad but true--- You know your child the best - if you decide on meds, it is pretty much up to parents... to trust teachers on how child is doing in school(communication is big) and for us to monitor-monitor-montor and relay information to the doctors. As far as the TV/video games - my son the same - I was told it is the stimulation from them that a child with ADD/ADHD needs and that is what the meds do also..... Finally, what helped me get my "family" and husband to go along with this is,,,I took them to the appoitments and in my area they offer ADD/ADHD classes I made them go - before they got it in their heads they didn't agree with me - I fed them with information about it-then let them decide.... Good luck!!! it's a hard road....
