| Re: Aspergers and hobbies
My one good friend has Asperger's and doesn't have any clear-cut "special interests." He has some interests/hobbies, but they are just to the normal degree- not obsessive and extreme. I, on the other hand, have the "special interests" as my most obvious Asperger's symptom. Every Aspie is different and has a different profile of symptoms. Some have very severe social deficits and don't have the presence of "special interests"; others, myself included, don't have horrible social deficts but are extreme in their "special interests" and their ramblings about said "special interests." If you have been officially diagnosed and fit the DSM-IV criteria for AS, chances are that it's an accurate diagnosis. You don't need every symptom to qualify as having Asperger's.
