Re: Does severe asthma attacks scar the lungs?

I have read in several places that severe attacks can cause scar tissue in the lungs. The best thing to do to prevent this, of course, is to avoid triggers and take one's preventive meds regularly.

Re: Does severe asthma attacks scar the lungs?

Severe asthma in general can cause something called 'lung remodeling' which is sort of like the changes that are seen with emphysema, and no, they don't heal themselves.

Re: Does severe asthma attacks scar the lungs?

Like air getting trapped inside your lungs from areas of constriction not letting the air out and some parts getting permanently stretched or blown up.
