Cramps - Asthma Message Board

I have had asthma for about a year and three months. I take a lot of medication to control it - pills, inhalers, and a nebulizer. I have been asked a lot of people that have asthma and have discussed a problem I have with my doctor, but no one has heard of it. When it comes time to use my emergency inhaler (Proventil), sometimes I wait to see if the attack will go away by avoiding the trigger. Sometimes when this happens, my hands cramp up and I am unable to do anything including using my inhaler. Luckily it has happened when I could get help. Does anyone else have this problem or heard of it.

Welcome to the board! I'm on lots of meds, inhalers and a neb also.
I was recently hospitalized and on massive doses of steroids. When they weaned me off them,the dr. did it too quickly and I had miserable cramping in my hands, calves and toes. I still have the hand cramping occasionally and my dr. says it is from steroid use. I have 3 steroid inhalers and don't take oral steroids at this time.
If you're on any steroids, it would be worth asking your doc about.
I wish I could be more helpful, but maybe this will give you a starting point.
