Post DOG ALLERGY???

I AM SORRY TO POST SO MUCH, FOR ANYONE WHO'S READ MY PREVIOUS POSTS. the only thing my husband and i can think of to connect with my asthma getting real bad is getting a dog. we got a dog in 1994 and we remember my trouble starting to be very bad in the mid ninetys. could a dog be responsible for my breathing decline? How could i find out? We think of him as one of the family. has anyone had their asthma worsened by an animal?

In response to your dog question, I have allergy-induced asthma only and the two things that bring this on are dust and DOGS. I am allergic to dogs horribly, and whenever I get remotely close to one, I start wheezing and it takes several days for my breathing to go back to being clear. So it is VERY likely that the dog is causing your condition! I would have a doctor check it out, but I have a feeling he'll say the same thing, especially if you've already made the correlation.

thanks for the responses, i had a visit with a very good pulmonologist at yale-new haven. he said he thought the asthma is probably being triggered by various things. the dog being one of them. because he is a member of the family he said if i keep him keep him out of the bedroom and refrain from getting to close. my asthma has slightly imporved as my pft is slightly better. he said i have fixed asthma(not real responsive to inhalers) (not copd) he is going to also reccomend a lung rehab program. he added singuar and nasolnex, as he stated many people with asthma can have it aggitated by sinus problems

I was tested for all sorts of allergies because of my asthma. Well one allergie of mine is dogs. At work we have a black lab thats almost always in the house. I work over nights for two nights. By the second day I have a terrible migrane that lasts almost two days W/no help from antihistamines. I really have no way to avoid the dog. For now Im just toughing it out.
