Could this be asthma? - Asthma Message Board

I have been taking a beta-blocker for about 3 weeks now for a fast heartbeat episodes a couple of months back. About 5 days or so, I noticed that at times, it seems like it is harder for me to inhale than usual. Especially if I just breathe through my nose, it seems harder than when I open my mouth. Other times, I don't notice anything at all. It's not that I'm short of breath, just that each breath seems a little harder than normal. It may go all day or just a couple of hours on a scale of 1-10, 10 being worst possible discomfort, I would say it is around a 4. I also have allergies and eczema. When I went for fasthearbeat/shortness of breath 2 months ago, doctors didn't say anything about asthma, they were more concerned with my heart. Is this something to worry about?

I would definitely tell the doctor. He/she may want to monitor you, or change your dose. or put you on a different medication.

i am a 22 year old female and I was diagnosed with asthma in 94. Lately I have been having a really rapid heartbeat and I have had problems breathing constantly. It doesn't feel like asthma though. Can you describe to me in more detail what you feel? I'm curious. I just had a hrt monitor on this week for my rapid heartbeat and will find out if it showed anything next week sometime. My breathing feels labored constantly like I really have to make a conscious effort to get air in and out. i feel like alot of it is in my throat though. I talked to my dr. about the breathing cuz it's scary but he kind of blew me off. Let me know what's going on with you. I'm curious to see if you're feeling the same things
