In NOvember I started Advair. Around that time I was experiencing some low grade ongoing anxiety....I drink cafeine only occasionally. And sometimes when I do I feel a jittery-ness, I feel restless and exhausted at the same time (similar to after having an adreline shot).
Anyway, I discontinued the Advair due to horseness in my throat. However, because my insurance would not cover the alternative to Advair I'm back on it.
My throat seems to not have the same response to the advair. But, once again I'm feeling this low grade anxiety - a sort of restlessness and mild exhaustion combined. My sleep doesn't feel refreshing in the morning.
I want to know if others have experienced this in conjunction with Advair. Or maybe there is another explanation for the experience I'm having???
Hi ... it might be the Serevent in the Advair that is making you feel that way. I had a similar reaction when I first started the Advair and the dr suggested the Serevent was probably to blame and to give it some time ... just knowing I was not crazy helped and the effect wore off after a while (it was quite a while - probably a few months). I take a lot of prednisone and it definitely makes me feel anxious, so I think this is a side effect of a lot of asthma meds.
if you absolutely don't need the long-term bronchodilator, try just going on regular flovent -- that is less likely to elicit an anxiety response, and will almost surely be covered by your insurance, since they cover Advair already.
Your anxiety is not uncommon. One doctor tried putting me on Paxil CR for my asthma-related anxiety. The anxiety is caused from worrying about not being able to breathe or by having a difficult time breathing. In my case the anxiety wasn't causing the breathing problems, it was the other way around. The Paxil made it worse. They didn't hear what I was saying. Always make yourself understood by your doctors.
You may nopt need the constant low level albuterol that's in the Advair. It isn't for everyone. It can make you anxious or fidgety. The anxiety you're feeling may be due to a reaction to the medication. If your anxiety or breathing worsen, consult a doctor.
