You sound like me. Doctors diagnosed asthma because I had a positive methacholine challenge test. And on my pft, the fef25-75 numbers were low, which indicates restriction in the small airways. I just feel short of breath ALL the time. Never an asthma attack, just SOB constantly.
The allergy/asthma clinic doctor did allergy testing on me, and now I'm in the process of taking shots. I'm allergic to a bunch of stuff like grass, dust mite poop. So far, no difference, but I know the shots can take a LONG time before they start working.
I have pretty good insurance, but I have to pay a co-pay of $15 for each shot. Three times a week, that adds up. But the insurance paid the cost of the medicine ($900), so that was good. If I were paying this out of my own pocket, I'm not sure I'd be doing it. But I'm tired of this SOB and doing everything I can to try to make it go away.
I've been on inhaled steroid and bronchodilator for about 5 months, and no change from that, either. So I'm hoping the shots do something.
