Singulair and Zyrtec - Asthma Message Board

Hello everyone. This is my first time on this board. I am on four different medications to treat my allergies/ashtma. I take: Flonase, Cingulair, Albuterol, and now Zyrtec. I understand that Zyrtec is supposed to make you drowsy and that you should not drive if you take it in the morning. My doctor has told me to take the Zyrtec in the morning and Cingulair at night. I don't know if I'm going to be able to take Zyrtec in the morning if it's going to make me sleepy most of the morning and afternoon. I am a stay at home mother of a 19 month old and I also go to the gym during the day after I drop off my other 2 children at school. I was just wondering if anyone here has taken both Zyrtec and Cingulair at the same time at night? I'm thinking about taking my Zyrtec at night along with my Cingulair. If I'm going to get sleepy with the Zyrtec, I might as well take it at night and sleep it off. I was just wanting other people's opinions on this. Sorry for the long post. I don't see why not, but might as well ask your pharmacist/doctor on it.

Hmmm... I don't understand why you doctor told you Zyrtec would make you sleepy. The whole reason it had been such a big hit with allergy sufferers is that it is a non-drowsy anti-histamine. I've taken it for past 5 years in the mornings getting up at 4:30am for work. Doesn't make me sleepy and I am someone that is out like a light with a half dose of Benedryl. My doctor said most people take Sinngulair in evenings because most asthmatics have attacks at night. However I have most of my attacks in mornings (because of smoke from the forest fires settling in morning before the wind picks up), so I take Singulair & Zyrtec in the mornings. In other word experiment and take your meds which ever way you think will benefit you more.
