Asthma and Salicylic Acid - Asthma Message Board

Hi, this may seem like a silly question, but I hope someone can help me out.

I have a friend who has asthma but also Keratosis pilaris which is basically is ingrown hair in the arms.

I heard salicylic acid (beta hydroxy) lotions can help with this condition, but I also know that aspirin which is a close chemical relative to salicylic acid can exacerbate asthma...

Does anyone know if an external use of salicylic acid is known to cause any problems with asthma?

hi,

Salicylic acid isn't the same as ASA.....it shouldn't have any effect on her asthma ..... unless she was totally allergic to it.

I use it on my face for pimples. It's a perfect exfoliant and applied topically.

I hope it's successful in treating the problem.
