Asthma & Florida

I have a 4yr old son with asthma. He needs to use a neublizer only when his asthma flares up - which in the past is been during the winter and spring months only... He seems to do well with just his allergy medicine and singulair in the summer. My question is: We are heading to Florida in a few days and I'm concerned that the change in weather is going to effect him... We are currently from the North, right now it is wet & cold - what type of weather is it down there.. (Okay I've never been there) only have heard hot and nice.... Is it humid hot - dry??? Any information I would greatly appreciate!!!

Thank-you
badkat

Re: Asthma & Florida

Depends on what part of Florida I would guess. We used to live there and never had any problems with my sons until we moved to S. Texas and that is when my youngests started with his allergies/asthma. It was hot and humid (not as humid as TX though) I would take the meds with you just to be on the safe side. Save yourself a trip to the ER. Good Luck

Re: Asthma & Florida

Depending on what the temps are right now, north Florida may still have ragweed and its relatives pollenating. The weather channel website has info on allergy in different areas of the country.

All of Florida is humid. Period. The weather pattern in northwest and north central Florida is often very different from that of central and southern Florida. It's a big state.

Check the weather channel.

Oh, if you live in a mountainous area, your child may have some trouble adjusting to the lower sea level.

Good luck.
