My son took his first inhalation of Advair 250/50 this morning. He has been hyper all day. I am supposed to give him his second dose soon and I think that I'm not going to give it and call his allergist tomorrow. He is on the hyper side anyway so I'm not sure how much is just a bad day or is the medicine.

The thing is, he blew his peak flow meter to 250 twice today which is the ultimate best he has ever blown. He is usually in the 190 range and his personal best was 220. So it definitely helped the asthma.

Does 250/50 seem like a large dose for a 5 yo. I've read others here say they are on 150/50.

I'm on Advair,,,never noticed it making me hyper,,,however,,,I'm 40 years old too. I know it makes a BIG difference in my Asthma also. I'm not sure about doses for kids,,,maybe check out Advair's website?
How's he doing after the 2nd dose?

I'm on 100/50, but I take pulmicort and singular also. Maybe with a smaller concentration combined with other meds that don't make you as hyper he will have the same good results. With so many asthma meds out there chances are your allergist can find something that works well without having bad side effects so I would say give him or her a call.
