asthma while sleeping

I was just wondering if anybody else has this problem and if they have any suggestions. I am on advair, which helps a lot, and I rarely have asthma attacks at all. But occassionally I'll have one while I am asleep at night. I sort of half wake up and have really crazy dreams. I will think that I should use my inhaler and I then will dream that I have, but of course the attack doesn't stop, so then I start thinking that I'm going to have to go to the hospital because my inhaler isn't working and I keep taking it and it isn't doing anything. And this goes on for I guess a while before I actually wake up enough to realize that I was just dreaming that I took my inhaler but didn't actually take it. Then I take my inhaler and I'm fine, and I go back to sleep. I just have so much time actually waking up enough to take the inhaler. Anybody else?

Re: asthma while sleeping

I have some strange asthma dreams too.. wake up feeling like I can't breathe but i'm not sure if i'm awake or really having problems? Like I see myself struggling to breathe literally gasping for air. It's weird. Sometimes I do wake up with an attack and take my inhaler, prop the pillows up & sleep sitting up. Sometimes that helps a ton.
