Tamiflu won't prevent the flu, in fact, the only thing it does for the flu is shorten the infection time by about a day or maybe 2. that's it. or at least that's what my doctor tells me. You can get a flu test if you are starting to feel sick though.

Doesn't shorten the infection, although it may relieve symptoms. THe only way to avoid catching a virus is to avoid contact with it hard. Very hard to do since we can't see viruses. Wouldn't it be nice if we had virus glasses or something where we could see the little buggers.

else in the household gets sick! I always back away from my boys
when they are sick,,,they know why I do it
by now! I feel bad when I do it,,,but man this winter has been a rough one!

You are not kidding. I have never been as sick in my life as I have been this winter and I thought I was in the best shape I've ever been in.
I dodged the flu, but I immediately caught the cold my kids picked up from school. I'm now just trying to get rid of it fast and make sure it doesn't go to my lungs. This is insane. I've literally been sick since September. I love my kids, but I keep looking at them like little petri dishes.

I've been on Pred almost all winter,,,caught every stinking thing
that has went around. I got off it about 3 weeks ago and have been
doing much better.

Lorrie - I just don't get it, it's like I had NO immunity this year. I managed to avoid the flu (thankfully), but then my DD turned around and immediately gave me her cold. I've been fighting that for the last week. I've been popping cold-eez, vit c and Echinacea and it seems to be going away, but boy, I have never been so afraid of a stinking cold before. Ugh. I hope you are feeling better as well!
