Pneumonia: How long does recovery take? - Asthma Message Board

Hi, i'm 15, and i came out of hospital about a year ago with a very serious case of bacterial pneumonia.

I got past the worse pain (the really bad back pain) that took about two weeks, but after that, i was sleeping sitting up for about two monthes after that.

it has been about ten monthes and still get back pains quite frequently, discomfort when lying down, and difficulty breathing and feeling light headed etc. The doctor said i dont have asthma, and the pain should have completly gone within 4 weeks of anti-biotics.

my parents dont belive me, they just think that its just a scam to get off school,

but i cant do PE, nd going up and down stairs is actually painfull

so do you think that there is somthing wrong with me, or am i just a hypochondriac?

Well man, I had a very bad case of pneumonia when I was about 4. I was in the hospital for about 2 and a half weeks. I don't think my pneumonia was as bad as yours sound, but if it doesn't get better soon, you should keep checking with your doctor and ask him to get you a prescription or something. I know there's a way to get rid of it. Your parents shouldn't think you are lying about your sickness. If you keep telling them, they'll probably believe you eventually.

It usually takes me 3 to 6 months to get my energy up to par but god forbid i catch a cold or the flue during that time ..if i do i end up withit again but worst (i've had it 16 times ).The worst time i ever had it iwas 13 and it took me 2 years to feel completly better (sorry ) . Hope you improve soon ! Stay away from other people that are sick 'k!!
