Athletic Asthma?? help!

hi, i really don't know much about asthma....could somebody tell me what the symptoms of athletic asthma are??
I think that i may have this (am going to the doc about it soon...) Whenever i exercise, after about 5 or 10 minutes my whole chest feels really compressed and my lungs and chest just hurt and ache, and i get a feeling that almost feels like burning in my chest and sort of up my neck----but its not an acidic type of burning. I've never had a full on can't breathe at all asthma attack...but when all the other stuff happens i can't take any deep breaths--just really short, shallow breaths so i feel like im not getting enough air when im trying to breathe.
Can someone please help me!! does this sound like asthma or is it something else all together? I'm only 20 and pretty active so i don't think it's because i'm out of shape....

thanks for your help!

Re: Athletic Asthma?? help!

I have the exact same problem. I try to be more active, but that keeps me from it a lot of the time. I use an over the counter inhaler, and it works really well for me. Sometimes, but not too often, I can be sitting and doing nothing and all of a sudden, my chest gets really tight and after a few minutes I'm wheezing and struggling to get a full breath. I think part of it is due to my allergies. Do you have allergies? If so, that might be fueling your problem... Post what the doctor says when you go; I'm just as curious about it as you are!
