Red face Mucus, Mucus I'm sooo sick of Mucus! Arent we all?

I need some clarification, please. (i have asthma allergies, just had sinus surgery. as a result i have severe thick pns thats been dripping for quite a while. i told him my throat feels real tight and hoarse).
my mucus is thick and hard to remove. my question is how can you tell if its in your lungs or just in the throat? he said its def. in my throat b/c only ppl with serious lung conditions have it in the lungs. an otherwise 'healhty' person wil just have an accumulation in throat. but i hear soooo many people on hear saying it's all in their lungs etc etc. do we just tend to confuse/interchage lungs and throat?

You definitely will have mucus in your lungs from time to time if you have asthma. That's one of the symptoms of asthma - mucus and inflammation. When I get a cold, virus, ect, it always seems to go to the lungs. I cough up mucus. Sometimes I have to take extra medicine and sometimes I don't. But when I am not sick, I don't have mucus...

Oh, sometimes its hard to tell if its coming from the throat or lungs. Usually when I cough, I can feel it coming from my lungs and out.

Tapping might help to expel the mucus from your lungs.
Lie on your right side and gently tap your left side, just under the left armpit, and back. Then change the side and do it on the other side.
The point here is to use the gravity to move the mucus out of the airways.
For more details, run 'postural drainage' through the search engine.
Also drink as much water as possible to loosen the mucus.

I have CF and as a result keep mucus in my lungs! I take a drug through nebulizer to thin it out and make it more "normal"

Anyway sometimes I can feel it rattling in my lungs sometimes its easily heard when I breathe and sometimes when it forms plugs it hurts like heck. So I can always tell when it really starts to accumulate
