Questions, possible asthma - Asthma Message Board

When I was a kid I had "bronchial asthma" brought on my exercise. I had Albuterol inhaler that I used and it worked. I stopped need it around 17 or so.
Now as an adult, I get a wheeze a few times a week, get "burning" chest when I exercise and become extremely winded when I walk fast-it takes about 5-10 minutes to breathe normal again.
I went to my doc last year about it and they had me do the tube thing that you breathe in (peak flow, I think it's called) but it didn't show anything weird.
Could this still be asthma-it sure feels like it? If you are wheezing when you inhale or exhale does that matter? I just feel like I can't breathe well frequently more so if I exercise at all. Am I just out of cardio shape? Should I press on more? My doc was kinda dismissive..
Help.

Sounds like you need to use your albuterol again - 15 minutes or so before your cardio workout. I jog and that's what I have to do. Go see a pulmonologist.

I was diagnosed with having a little case of exercise induced asthma (EIA) when I was in 11th grade. I'm now 25 years old. I have an Albuterol inhaler. I always forget to use it before I go walking, and I feel the effects of not using it while out walking. I have to take breaks. I need to start using it before I go walking.
