Doc says lungs are fine/Test say different

I was hoping you guys could help me out please. In May I went to a pulmonogist for shortness of breath. He did a pulmonary function test, chest x-ray and a CT of the chest and a test similar to the PF test but after each time you blew in this machine they gave you albuterol.

My pulmonogist said my lungs were fine and sent me to a cardiologist. Tons of test their all was good. In my second visit with the cardiologist he said that I the pulmonary doc's information said I had some lung impairment. Well this was news to me. I went to the hospital where all my tests were done and picked up my test results. The PF test said residual volume is slightly diminished suggestive of early restrictive ventilartory impairment. The chest x-ray said lungs are clear. No effusions. No change since 11-10-2000. The CT said Minor dependent atelectasis in the postierior lower lobes. No pulmonary fibrosis, no pleural or pericardial effusions. Normal CT of the chest. The test where I was given albuterol says, there is a mild obstructive defect. The airway obstruction is confirmed by the decrease in flow rate at 50% and 75% of the flow volume curve. This is interpreted as an insignificant response to brochodialator. Neg methachiline challenge.

I know that I am trying to interpret this comments on my own and that is not a good idea but it does seem to me there is some lung issues here. If it was copd would I have a clear ches x-ray? Could this be asthma? I'm not asking for a diagnosis but just a little help.

Thank you
Terri

Re: Doc says lungs are fine/Test say different

If it was COPD your lung Xray wouldn't be clear. With significant lung issues the Xray usually shows fading off lung lobes, scratches/scarring or lots of marks.

Based on your results I would go back to your doctor and demand an explanation of your results. It doesn't sound normal to me but I don't understand the CT scan things. All I understand is Xrays and blood results. So definitely see your doctor and demand a explanation. Or alternatively see a different pulmonologist or even a respiratory doctor.
