Unhappy exhausted from not being able to breathe

I have been having flare ups for a few weeks now which is not abnormal for this time of year (my allergies act up bcs of the mold etc.) but I just can't seem to shake it. Last night I started with a coughing fit that turned into a full fledged Asthma attack. My chest was so tight I could barely breathe in to cough. I felt like my lungs were totally not working and I was going into a panic attack. I used my albuterol inhailer 4 times or so (8 puffs) in a 2 hour frame and I was still weezing when I breathed. I finally went and got my nebulizer and used it and felt about 75% better. This morning I used my nebulizer again before work and then used it once here at work (I go in the bathroom and use it). I still feel like crap. I am so tired from not getting enough oxygen. I can barely walk from my desk to the break room and I've had co workers tell me that I am white as a ghost (I told them it was my Halloween costume but they didn't beleive me). I guess I need to go to my doctor again and get on some prednisone I just HATE being put on meds. I feel so bad that I am contimplating going to the ER tonight but I know they can't do anything more for me than I am already doing. I just hate this. I feel like I need to sleep for a couple weeks but how am I suppossed to do that with a high stress demanding job? Sometimes just talking to others that understand helps.

Thanks for listening,
Amanda

Re: exhausted from not being able to breathe

I'm still really sick today. I'm already up and using my nebulizer. I think if I can't get into my doctor today I am going to have to go to an urgent care or the ER.

MandyPandy

Please do go to ER. I know we all hate going there and spending hours but you have been having trouble breathing for two days straight. That is not a good sign. Not to preach, but Asthma is nothing to play with when you can not get an attack under control on your own. I learned my lesson years ago when I first got Adult asthma and literally almost went to the hospital (on my own) blue in the face.

Take care and feel better.

Re: exhausted from not being able to breathe

Thanks Jo. I went to my doc today and got some more antibiotics, steroids and put bakc on Advair & singulair. I'm hoping it will all help. I've felt a little better today just exausted still. Luckily my docs listen to me and know I am not jsut full of it. My uncle and g. grandfather both died of Asthma so I know I need to take better care of myself. Thanks again for your kind words.

Re: exhausted from not being able to breathe

MandyPandy, glad to hear that you feel a little better. I take Advair myself and Proventil when needed. I also am doing the allergy shots which has helped a lot, since my asthma is allergy related.
