My husband has been on Xolair for almost 2 years and it also has been a miracle drug for him!
His asthma was
barely controlled with a daily high dose of prednisone, along with various inhalers. He also developed a chronic form pneumonia that was only controlled with an increase in his oral prednisone.............he was a mess!!!!
When his doctor recommended xolair we didn't really hold out much hope, BUT, what a wonderful drug.
My husband goes every two weeks and gets a shot in each arm, which is the only drawback to him

. After about 3 months he was off the prednisone and after 6 months he was completely off his inhalers too.
I would really lobby your insurance company very hard for approval!!! It is a very expensive medication. Along with that, the med needs it to be mixed shortly before you recieve the shots, so a trip to a hospital (my husband) or drs office is required each time.
A hassle......but worth it!! Good luck!
