hmm, where to start. First off I am 19 and have been involved in several sports my whole life. The majority of it was soccer, then during highschool, added on cross country and track. I'm in great shape so that's why i'm thinking i may have exercise induced asthma it but still be functional. (like if i were fat it would make an enormous difference)

well heres the skinny. Not every time, but sometimes when i exercise, my chest gets tight, and right when i stop i start to cough and wheeze, nothing terrible, but just as if i were sick, but i knew i wasn't sick. Sometimes (not nearly as often as the wheeziness) when i'm doing distance running my left shoulder hurts (i think it only happened less than 5 times during junior and senior year) it feels just kinda like an ache, it would start very light then just get progressively worse as i kept pushing myself. I figured it was just caused by having incorrect form or something, also because my left shoulder is weaker than my dominant right except when i slowed down it would go away. (only happened during long practices around 4-8 miles, races are shorter) anyways, the tight chest and wheezyness is what happens more often, and what's weird is the inconsistency, sometimes i could push myself really really hard and not notice it, but others even if i didn't push as hard i would sometimes occur. The one consistent part of cross country though is that it's always my breathing thats the limiting factor in the races. when i need to turn it up to get to the finish, it's never my legs that are lacking, my muscles feel fine! they want to go! it's just that i cant breathe anymore. like the other day, playing indoor soccer the tight chest wheezyness happened after only 1 sort game! and i had to sit down for like 10 mins for it to go away. Most of the time i could do 3 games in a row with nothing.

so yea basically I've never been sure because with the kind of exercise I do everybody is expected to get tired. I don't really have anything unique, just typical hayfever allergies (grass, pollen, mold) and my doctor said a while ago that my heart beats a little funny, nothing really to worry about, something like it speeds up when i exhale or something? i don't remember exactly, he said it wasn't anything to worry about. I also told him that once in a great while (less than once a month) something happens where it feels like I forgot to breath for awhile and my heart starts racing for like 20 secs, then it goes away and i'm fine. it only happens when i'm at total rest though. I think he said it's probably just when like the 2 different compressions in the heart go out of sync for a second or something. again no biggie.

so yea, pretty much just wondering if anybody else has the exercise induced asthma, and if you're in shape or regularly exercise have you had the same symptoms? Are there any tests i could take to find out? when i did the allergy tests they gave me an asthma blow test, but i was at rest so it wouldn't tell me anything about exercise induced.
