Advair worst drug ever

Ok I exaggerated a bit but really the side-effects of Advair are just horrendus. My asthma stay in check for most of the winter so I don't have to worry about taking a bunch of drugs. However, if I happen to catch a cold which I recently did I usually I have to resort to using an inhaler a few days to keep my breathing from becoming difficult.

I did roof construction that morning which it was strangely warm for being that early. Afterwards I went to my second job in a restaurant and worked my shift there until about 10. Then I went over a friends house and had a few drinks. On my way there I noticed my breathing had become heavy and I was trying to take deep breaths to see if I could get it under control. Once I got to my friends house I switched clothes thinking maybe something left over from all the wood particles was causing the problems. I also washed my face and hands. I was able to forget about it until I got home late that night where the breathing problems came back with a vengeance. If I was gonna sleep that night I knew I was gonna have to do something so I took 2 puffs of advair and my breathing got much better after about 20 minutes. The next day I felt anxious all day and sluggish. It made what should have been a fun day at work pretty crappy and the whole night I felt off. Even when I went to buy food at the supermarket I felt super anxious almost manic.

I believe a few factors combined made the asthma peak it's ugly head. The most destructive was probably the cold which was still mild from previous ones. The strange warm weather I think made the pollen count higher than normal which probably had an effect. Then the construction and all those particles being either being inhaled or caught my clothing couldn't have helped either.

So in closing I am of the opinion that Advair sucks hard. If anyone else has had similar experiences with Advair please share them.

Re: Advair worst drug ever

Sorry you had difficuties with your use of Advair. There was something about your post that concerned me, my doctor made it very clear that I should never use two puffs of Advair at the same time. There are two medications in the Advair--fluticasone propionate and salmeterol. There are inhalors with different strengths of the fluticasone propionate in them, but the second medication salmeterol is already at it's max dosage in all inhalors. I am unsure of the side effects of too much salmeterol at one time, but you may want to check into it.

Re: Advair worst drug ever

Advair is a daily preventer - not a rescue inhaler. You used it at the wrong time so no wonder you had issues. I would imagine your scrip says to use once or twice a day....not as an emergency inhaler.

Re: Advair worst drug ever

My dosage is for 2 inhalations a day so I didn't go over the the limit as far as the drugs in my system. I have used to regularly before and still gotten the same side effects. It seems I have lost my albuterol inhaler so advair is all I have at the moment.

Re: Advair worst drug ever

You should not be taking the Advair at the same time as having an attack. You need to use the albuterol for that. I was instructed to not take my Flovent if I was having an attack. First I was to use the albuterol and then my regular dose of Flovent an hour later.
