Just took a singulair my lungs are burning and itching and tight - Asthma Message Board

I dont know whats wrong with me know. I have been taking claritin daily and its been working up until today. I have been working around alot of spices and I think they may have hurt my lungs. My chest is tight when I inhale I hear a wheeze my right ear,throat area and lung itches. My sinuses hurt my ears are popping and my lips are red and throbbing! I hope this singulair pill will provide some relief. Does it sound like Im having a asthma attack??

Have you ever had a reaction like this before? Do you have a history of asthma or is this the first time you have had asthma like symptoms? Only you really know how sick you are at the moment, but the symptoms you've described are concerning enough to me that I believe you should seek some medical advice at an urgent care or emergency room tonight. Better safe than sorry! In the meantime, if you have some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) in the house, you might want to take a 25-50mg dose. Keep us posted on how you do tonight!

Yes I have had asthma like symptoms before I had asthma as a child. I took the singulair last night and within a hour I could breath better. So I would assume that means its asthma thats flaring up. Do you think?

I had the most horrible reaction to Singulair. After a few days I developed a non-stop cough which then developed into bronchitis and was sick for weeks. I know it was the Singulair because from the first it simply didn't agree with me.
If you feel it helped you breathe better, that's good. But perhps you need something like QVAR or Advair in addition as a preventative.
