Albuterol & Flovent not helping - Asthma Message Board

I still have a tight feeling in my chest and the urge to cough, though that doesn't help at all.

I am really worried about my asthma. I must have a kind of bad case of it to have two inhalers and all this discomfort.

Is there anything I can do for my respiratory system? I'm not aware of how to do breathing exercises and diet and all that. Actually, I don't know what to do.

There are other meds. Perhaps you need to change to a different daily preventer. Or perhaps you need to up your dosage of Flovent. How many puffs a day are you prescribed of the Flovent? And are oyu going to a pulmonologist?

Not going to a pulmonologist yet. All I've done is see 2 regular doctors and I had to breathe as hard as I could into a small machine for the nurse. That was awful, hurt and I had to repeat it by doing it before Albut and then after inhaling it. I thought I was going to pass out.

I'm told to take 2 puffs twice a day of the Flovent and the Albuterol as needed.

Time to tell the doctor that my lungs and air passages still hurt, I guess. Or change doctors.

I'd see a pulmonologist. You need different meds.

When were you diagnosed with asthma and how long have you been taking your meds?
