Peak Flows

Is it normal for your peak flow reading to be down in the morning?

I've done it 4 times this morning and I still can't get higher than 430. I know that is normal for my age/height but all my other readings have been in the high 400s/low 500s. I do feel a little tight chested, I wonder if that warrants me having to use my rescue inhaler? Or if it does naturally dip in the morning anyway.

Re: Peak Flows

I was actually just wondering the same thing. I can drop 100 overnight (500 to 400), and wasn't sure if I should just take my Advair, or do it and Proventil. Sorry I can't help any, but you aren't the only one that drops. Also, how do you figure what is normal for your age/height? Is there something online that I can use to figure this? Thanks.

Re: Peak Flows

I only know because my nurse looked at her chart thing. There are some online but you can't be sure of their accuracy so I would ask your doctor/nurse.

Re: Peak Flows

Oh and I did actually need 2 puffs of my inhaler in the end and it opened my lungs right up.
