Does swimming in a highly chlorinated pool affect asthma. The reason I ask is both times I had brought my children to an indoor waterpark where it is highly chlorinated to the point of burning my eyes I think my asthma was acting up later on before going to bed. I actually got sick on both of these trips so wondering if there was a connection.
My husband had asthma attacks as a kid/teen and he claims that swimming in chlorine always brought them on.
So, yes, it is possible, if you are sensitive to chlorine.
It might help if you visited only outdoor pools, so that you were at least breathing clear air the whole time, and rinsed your eyes and sinuses with saline afterward.
That would typically be an allergy. I've been allergic to chlorine all my life and have to avoid the stuff like the plague. If I just have to bleach some clothing, I use lemon scented bleach and then wash them again with soap to clear out the chlorine.
