Question Very little air movement in lung... what does this mean?

I just came from my doctors office and she just told me that their was very little air movement in my left lung. This disturbs me a little ..ok alot. What exactly does this mean? My lungs have both partially collapsed several times in the past and i've had "dead areas" in my lungs also ......honestly I love my doctor but she just blurts these things out and then doesn't really explain anything . I have severe asthma ..is this all part of it ? I. And to think I though the doctor was just going to tell me I have broncitus again

Ok I guess this is an uncommon thing ? I thought may be a typical asthma thing..

Re: Very little air movent in lung..what does this mean.

Hi engineer. I too have severe asthma and have had little air movement as well. usually by that time I end up going to the ER and am usually admitted to the hospital. If you aren't getting the answers and satisfaction from your pulmonologist I would search for another. This is not something you want to mess around with. If you don;t want to switch docs and are comfortable with the one you have now, ask her to explain what is going on. I usually write down the questions I want to ask my doctor so I don;t forget anything. This is your health we are talking about and the doctor shouldn't;t just be blurting stuff out and not explaining anything. Good luck with everything

Smile Re: Very little air movement in lung... what does this mean?

Good I'm ghlad your going to the doctor on Monday I hope this visit is more productive for you then the others have been.

When I was admitted they put me on IV steroids and antibiotics and treatments every 4 hours plus oxygen. I am usually in for 3-4 days at a time. It seems to be taking longer and longer though to bounce back. This time it took over a month and I am just starting to feel a little better. Please kep us posted on your visit and I wish you luck.
