Be aware

My son had asthma since he was 6 months old. Then when he was 2 he began experiencing Pneumonia over and over with his asthma. Antibiotics and steroids were prescribed over and over. In and out of the hospital, he was sick every 6 wks to 3 months (as antibiotics were finished) for 2 years. I insisted on a pulmonary specialist.

Finally after many tests and broniscope we found he had resistant STAFF in his lungs. We took a molecular antibiotic (was only two choices that or a 14 day intravenous treatment). His lungs collapsed after treatment. But he has had treatable asthma since. Advir 100/50 x2 day (started with the 250). Singular once a day 5 milligrams everyday. He is now 9 and gets sick like a normal child.

Re: Be aware

Anyone whose child is diagnosed with asthma by their pediatrician should immediately find a pediatric pulmonologist for a confirmation of the diagnosis. Everyone with asthma should be under the care of a pulmonologist or immunologist or other asthma specialist. And if your PCP doesn't suggest that, you need to find another PCP.
